Welcome to Vectors, a news and information website about the BASIS Curriculum Schools network.
A vector – as many of our students know – has magnitude as well as direction, and most notably helps determine the position of one point of space relative to another.
And so the same can be said of our Vectors website: we share the *magnitude* and *direction* of the students and teachers in each of the campuses across four nations, a number of geographical regions, and six U.S. states and the District of Columbia. In the 2019-2020 academic year, there is *magnitude* and *direction* in 40 schools using the BASIS Curriculum.
Vectors likewise determines the position of the thousands of teachers and students delving daily into the BASIS Curriculum relative to other schools, other networks, other schoolchildren and young adults across the nation and around the world who are also preparing for the next lesson, the next grade, the next small step in the giant leap of their educational journeys.
We know each of our schools is unique, and each type of school using the BASIS Curriculum does what it, in particular, does best.
But we also know that every student who goes to a school using the BASIS Curriculum shares something — so Vectors will deliver the buzz and banter and big news about what BASIS Curriculum students and teachers all do, and how they all do it – whether it’s something we share as a large collective, or something unique to a school or a learning community.
Vectors generates features, closer looks at teachers and ideas and subjects we study, plus details about activities and triumphs and results.
Vectors re-posts some of the excellent pieces from our existing websites, blogs, and social media, while also giving our teachers, students, and families a chance to share their experiences.
Vectors directly conveys the view into classrooms by teachers and school leaders, and even the views of our founders and educational experts.
Vectors also links to pertinent news, happenings, and insight from outside websites and sources, including media and blogs, community and curricular partners, and educational thinkers.
Finally, it is important to note that the *magnitude* and *direction* of Vectors aims to reach all of the schools that teach the BASIS Curriculum — each parent and student, every teacher and staffer, and the hundreds of community supporters, school boosters, and ever-toiling employees in Arizona, California, Louisiana, New York, Texas, Virginia, the District of Columbia, China, the Czech Republic, and Thailand. We also consistently aim to reach the budding and blooming future members of our large community and smaller communities: prospective students, parents, and teachers, and beyond.
Welcome to Vectors. Content will update when there’s something cool to share, so please be sure to sign up for email notifications whenever new pieces appear. You can also contact us at vectors@basised.com.
